About the course
This presentation addresses strategies for preparing dogs and cats experiencing pain for veterinary visits, focusing on minimizing stress and discomfort both at home and within the hospital environment. The session covers home-based preparation techniques, environmental modifications in the clinic, handling approaches based on Low Stress Handling® and Sophia Yin’s 10 General Handling® Principles, and the application of cooperative care techniques. The presentation will examine the use of medication protocols, sedation options, and handling tools to support safer and more comfortable experiences for both patients and veterinary teams. Participants will learn how to integrate these strategies into daily practice to improve outcomes for painful patients.
