About the course

This presentation explores how pain affects behavior in dogs and cats, with a focus on identifying the subtle signs of both acute and chronic pain. Participants will examine the physiological and emotional effects of pain, including its relationship with the stress response and its influence on body language, movement, and social interaction. The session will provide practical guidance on distinguishing pain-related behaviors from those linked to fear, anxiety, frustration, or training difficulties. Strategies for treatment and ongoing management will be discussed to address both physical discomfort and associated behavioral changes. Attendees will gain the skills to recognize the impact of pain and to incorporate pain assessment into every patient visit, regardless of age.
